Ten years ago this town used to be where you'd expect politics and law to intersect with a sense of fair play. Now, it feels like every turn brings another story that just doesn't sit right.

Last night's news out of Thailand tells me I'm not alone in feeling uneasy about the state of things today. The Constitutional Court there dismissed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin for appointing a cabinet minister still serving time in prison. It’s supposed to be about upholding the law, but when do we ever see it happen like this?

Back when people still believed in due process and integrity mattered more than who you knew or what strings you could pull, no one would've thought such a thing possible. Now it feels all too familiar.

This isn't the first time Thailand's leadership has faced such scrutiny either. Every administration seems to leave behind a trail of broken rules and compromised values. It’s like the harder they try to push forward, the more they dig themselves into the quicksand of corruption.

It used to be that when you saw someone take a stand for what's right, you knew it was coming from a place of principle. Now every move seems calculated and self-serving, leaving everyone else to wonder why things ever worked differently here in the first place.
