Ten years ago this town was different. Used to be you could leave your door unlocked and not worry about it. Back when people still minded their manners.

But that was before last night's shooting of Judge Steven Meyer at his home in Lafayette, Indiana. Three individuals have been charged with attempted murder for the attack on Judge Meyer and his wife Kimberly.

The brutal assault on a respected jurist is suspected to be politically motivated against someone who stands up for conservative values. It's not just a random act; it’s part of a pattern.

Now, there are always those who will say something like this couldn’t happen here. But when you look at what’s been going on with the Democrat-led pushback against conservatives, it’s hard to see things any other way.

It used to be that judges like Steven Meyer could serve their community without fear of retribution. Back then, people were more respectful of law and order.

This isn't the first time a conservative voice has been targeted in our area. Last year it was another judge who got death threats for making decisions unpopular with the left-wing fringe.

And don’t get me started on all the other incidents under Obama-era administrations, when things really began to shift.

Who’s next?
