Imagine if your child’s school was surrounded by an RV parked amidst trash and graffiti, right where they should feel safest.

Raul Claros, a City Council candidate in Los Angeles, is living out of an RV at MacArthur Park to raise awareness about the dangerous conditions there. His decision comes after witnessing firsthand how the city fails its residents.

“This isn’t isolated,” said Claros, “Every day I wake up and see needles on the ground, graffiti on walls, and people living in fear.”

The RV sits near a school playground, a stark reminder of what our children face every day. But there’s something authorities aren’t emphasizing: the sheer human cost behind these statistics.

As a mother, I can’t help but imagine my child in those same surroundings—trash-filled parks, drug addicts on corners, and no sense of security.

Our neighborhoods should be safe places to raise families. Instead, we’re forced to watch as government neglect pushes us further from that dream.

What kind of world are we leaving for our children? A place where they see the worst of humanity when they step out their doors?

Please share this with every parent you know—our voices need to be heard. We can’t ignore what’s happening right outside our homes anymore.
