Folks, it’s no secret that I’m not a fan of all this green energy talk when the government keeps throwing up roadblocks left and right. But here’s something that caught my eye last week: Ørsted, Europe’s big player in offshore wind, has taken the Biden administration to court over its suspension of their $5 billion project.
Now I know some folks think green energy is a no-brainer, but let me tell you what’s really going on here. The Biden team promised to push forward with these kinds of projects that are good for both jobs and the environment. But instead of walking the walk, they’re hitting the brakes.
Here's what they're not telling you: This kind of move by the government is like telling a kid he can have ice cream every day, then taking away his spoon before he gets to eat it. You set expectations high and then knock them down hard when people least expect it. That’s not how you build trust with regular folks.
Back in the Obama-era, there were plenty of challenges for green energy too, but they at least tried to keep their word on some projects that started moving forward before 2017. Now under Biden, things are different. It's like every promise made during campaign season gets buried once folks move into office.
I've heard all sorts of talk about how we need more investment in renewable energy, but when you look at what’s really happening on the ground, it’s hard to see any real commitment there. This lawsuit by Ørsted is just another sign that something ain't right with our leaders and their green promises.
Plain and simple, if I did this kind of thing in my job, I'd be fired for sure. But these folks up top keep getting away with it, leaving regular Americans to pick up the pieces when things go south.
The historical record shows that even under previous administrations, there were hiccups and delays, but they didn't take such a hard line against projects that had been in motion for years. The way this wind farm suspension went down smells fishy to me, plain as day.
Now Ørsted is fighting back legally because they know something’s not adding up here. And you don’t need a degree from Harvard Law School to figure out that when the government starts playing games with big energy projects like this one, everyone loses in the end.
