Folks, I was at a diner this morning when a guy sitting next to me said he used to work for the EPA and now can't find any jobs in his field. He's applied to over two hundred positions and still nothing. That got me thinking about how many hardworking people are out there trying to make ends meet after all that happened last year.
If you remember, President Trump cut a lot of budgets across the board when he was running things. Now these folks who once had jobs in agencies and departments are struggling big time because they have no idea where their next paycheck is coming from or if there's even going to be one. And let me tell you, that doesn't feel good at all.
Here's the thing -- when the government changes up its priorities so suddenly like it did under Trump, those of us who work in these places are left holding the bag. We're supposed to move on and find new gigs, but with a job market already tough enough, folks aren't exactly lining up for every position out there.
Some people say this is just how the system works -- that every time they switch things around, it's like starting over from scratch. But I'm telling you right now, that's not how regular Americans see it. We expect our leaders to take care of us, plain and simple. And if they're going to shake up everything we know all at once? Well, that doesn't sit well.
And don't get me started on the media -- they act like this is no big deal, but I've seen how these changes affect people's lives firsthand. There are stories of whole teams being left out in the cold overnight because someone in a suit decided to cut costs or restructure departments without thinking about what would happen next.
Now some folks might say 'hey, that's just politics.' But I've been through enough job searches myself to know when things aren't right. The rules don't change overnight for everyone else, so why should they for the government?
This isn't just about one administration or another either -- it goes back decades of how Washington operates. Whether it's Trump cutting budgets or previous administrations trying to grow them, something's gotta give and usually it's regular people who take the hit.
There are going to be those who say we should've seen this coming -- that anyone with a brain knew things were going to get rough after so many cuts. But I'll tell you what, you try working in an environment where no one knows which way is up and down from one day to the next.
Now don't misunderstand me here -- Trump isn't the only culprit when it comes to this kind of chaos. Previous administrations have done their fair share of making things tough for folks too, Democrat or Republican. But that doesn't make what happened any easier on those who got caught in between.
The biggest frustration is knowing that these kinds of changes will keep happening regardless of who's in charge. We're just the ones left picking up the pieces. That's why it feels like we've been forgotten and that nobody cares about us out here anymore.
