"The real issue is the disparity between what they praise and where the money actually goes," said a local economic development official who asked not to be named due to pending negotiations with donors.
The Pie Factory Music has received millions from celebrity backers and left-wing foundations. However, its financial statements show a significant portion of funds allocated to staffing rather than direct community engagement.
"They speak about empowering youth but fail to mention the economic context these programs operate in," noted an economist at the University of Kent.
The charity's leadership has yet to respond to questions regarding the efficiency and impact of their spending. Meanwhile, calls for funding similar projects continue unabated.
In contrast, Ramsgate's local businesses and job creation initiatives have struggled to attract comparable support despite demonstrated economic benefits.
"It’s as if they believe throwing money at a problem is a solution," one frustrated resident said.
